Monthly collections were performed for each fragment from July 2008 to June 2009, with the use of eight mist nets, comprising 160 m2 of exhibition area, totaling 192 hours. The capture effort was equal to 7,680 m2/h. The richness was analyzed according to the number of species, the diversity was obtained by the Shannon-Wiener index and the relative abundance was calculated by dividing the total of individuals captured by the captures effort. Simple linear regressions were performed to verify the effect of the independent variable in relation to ecological parameters mentioned above. The largest fragment had a higher abundance and higher gross value of diversity index. It is possible that the adult individuals of uncommon species be the last in the area and that, due to the reduction of their habitats, their local populations will disappear in the future. Therefore, the maintenance of fragments, regardless of size, is essential for the conservation of bat communities.

Because of the few records of Streblidae on bats, despite extensive study on these mammals in the state of Rio de Janeiro, a survey was carried out in an area of Atlantic Forest, in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu, known as the Tinguá region. Thirteen species were added to the list of Streblidae in the state of Rio de Janeiro, of which two were new records for Brazil. Thirty-one species have no...

Most Brazilian landscapes lie below 600 m above sea level and studies on the rich Brazilian bat fauna at higher altitudes are scarce. In this study, we investigated bat assemblages associated with different habitats in Chapada do Abanador, Minas Gerais, an area with altitudes ranging from 1000 to 1580 m. Forty-five nights of sampling (153 000 m2h) were performed in semideciduous montane forest,...

Toxoplasmosis stands out as a global disease that has felines as definitive hosts. In the municipality of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil, two parks are notable for their ecological and social importance. This study aimed to investigate the presence of Toxoplasma gondii in short hair cats, bats and small non-volant mammals in these two ecological reserves. Altogether, biological sample...

The paper aims to evaluate the beta diversity in homogeneous and heterogeneous habitats in tropical forests. Also, the relationship between beta diversity and richness in the rain forests and monsoon forests is elucidated. The study was conducted in a forest landscape of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in the Western Ghats of India. The Wilson and Shmida index was used to assess the beta diversity of...
متن کاملImpact of silver ions and silver nanoparticles on the plant growth and soil microorganisms
There is a growing consumer market for products that proclaim to decrease microorganism counts to prevent infections. Most of these products are loaded with silver in its ionic or nanoparticle form. Through use or during production, these particles can find their way into the soil and cause an impact in microbial and plant communities. This study aims to evaluate the impact of silver based part...
